During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, in-person teaching was permanently altered. Despite much disapproval among students and teachers, education was forced to transition online. However, as cases decreased, in-person education increased, and distance learning was eventually embraced – and often favored. According to The74, a nonprofit news site that focuses on education-related issues, enrollment in online classes increased by 170% from its “pre-pandemic level.” This shifted to a 176% increase in 2021-22.
It’s been three years since the height of the pandemic, and the option for online education has become normalized. Distance learning had its perks, and it wasn’t long until people started to discover them. At the Music and Language Learning Center, or the MLLC, we value online education and its endless benefits. From accessibility to the opportunities it provides, we’re here to share how our organization enhances the experience of distance learning. Unlimited Opportunities In many places, it can be difficult to find high-quality education services. That’s where virtual learning comes in. By opening yourself up to taking online classes, you’re opening yourself up to a whole new world of learning opportunities – granting yourself access to the education you’ve been looking for. Limiting yourself to in-person learning most likely limits you to what’s being offered in and around your city. With virtual classes, however, the world is your oyster! The MLLC ensures that education reaches no limits, which is why we’re completely online. No matter where you are in the world or what level of education you’re at, our online courses are meant to adapt to you. Convenience Aside from the opportunity to learn from teachers across the world, online education is convenient in many ways. As we covered, virtual learning allows students to learn from the best without being restricted by location. In relation, students can work in places outside the classroom that are more convenient for them. Not everyone works best in the classroom and others may find difficulty getting to school – due to parents who work full-time jobs, the expense of commuting, and much more. With online courses, however, you can adapt to your own learning style and choose your own workplace. Problem solved! In addition to this, online education also gives students more freedom with working at their own pace and on their own schedule. We want to make your experience with virtual learning as convenient as possible, which is why the MLLC provides our students with three types of course options: flexible classes, multi-day classes, and private one-on-one tutoring. If you learn better by completing assignments on your own time, our flexible classes are perfect for you! If you’d prefer to meet with a teacher a set number of times, check out our multi-day classes! And if you want to make quick progress in a certain course, you’d benefit most from individual tutoring! Digital Literacy In today’s world, new technologies and digital media have played a significant role in how people learn and communicate. By taking an online class, you’re enhancing your digital literacy skills. According to the American Library Association, or ALA, digital literacy is defined as “the ability to use information and communication technologies to find, evaluate, create, and communicate information, requiring both cognitive and technical skills.” Over the past few years, we’ve watched the result of the COVID-19 pandemic alter how we use technology. By embracing the digital resources society has since prioritized, you’ll be better prepared for what technology has to offer in the future. With this in mind, we understand that technology doesn’t come easy for everyone. With the help of our certified and experienced teachers at the MLLC, our goal is to make you feel comfortable with online learning – all while providing you with high-quality education. We’re in this together! Ready to Enroll? With time, we have grown to see the many benefits of online education, despite the initial objection caused by the recent pandemic. From the flexibility that fosters a comfortable work environment to the accessibility that provides a foundation for quality education, virtual learning has a place for everyone. Transitioning into distance learning is a big step to take, especially for those who’ve only experienced in-person instruction. However, you aren’t alone! Many of us at the MLLC know what it’s like to experience this change in education, which is why we’re here to help with any hesitations you may have.
