Justine Hansen is a choral conductor and music educator based in San Diego, California. She currently directs the CSU-San Marcos choral ensemble. Prior teaching positions have included choral and general music at the Pacific Ridge School in Carlsbad, CA, The Bishop’s School in La Jolla, CA, and Milwaukee Public Schools. Hansen has directed community ensemble Women’s Voices Milwaukee, and the San Diego Women’s chorus. Her experience with children’s voices includes San Diego Children’s Choir, San Diego North Coast Singers, and presently an early childhood education program through a local community co-op. Hansen has served in a number of churches as Choral Music Director and soprano section leader. As a performer, Justine sings soprano with the San Diego Pro Arte Voices and as an on-call, freelance vocalist. Justine holds a BFA in Choral Music Education from the University of Wisconsin- Milwaukee, a Master of Choral Music Education degree from Kent State University, and is expected to graduate with her Doctorate of Music Education from Liberty University in the fall of 2022. Justine is an active member of ACDA, CCDA, SCVA, and NAfME. She has served on the board of the California Music Educators Association. Whether conducting choral masterworks or guiding young children in playful song, Hansen feels privileged to make music for a living. Outside of work, Justine is a mom to three awesome kids, 2 dogs, a fish, and is married to her best friend (who is also a musician). Their family loves boba tea and the beach.
